2018 is up and running and I trust you all had some time out to reconnect with your thoughts.
Also, we are wishing you a great year in 2018.
We thought that we would send you the attached report which was commissioned by Frost and Sullivan. These guys are leaders in providing both the IT Sector and Business Executives with information on trends and forecasts.
Most of our conversations with our clients is that they are looking at transforming their business systems to the next level in 2018 and this would therefore be a timely report for you to read or review.
The interesting thing about the report is that it covers 7 countries and Australia was included which is rare.
To understand the degree to which organisations are experiencing industry change globally and how they are responding, Frost & Sullivan surveyed 1,500 senior executives (CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and other senior managers) in 7 countries (Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, the UK and the US). Respondents spanned all major industry sectors, ranging from manufacturing to retail. The research shows that most executives not only agree that their industry is rapidly undergoing transformation, but that flexibility and adaptability are increasingly becoming key factors for survival.
Industry transformation is affecting organisations of all sizes. The average lifespan of a company in the US S&P 500 index has reduced from 61 years in 1958 to 18 years today, and is forecast to drop to 10 years by 2018.
There are many factors driving transformation.
4 common trends impacting organisations in all countries are:
- the emergence of new, disruptive competitors;
- the need to embrace new business models;
- and the growing adoption of productisation and servitisation.
Businesses that will survive are not likely to be those with the best products or services today, but those with the best ability to adapt to changing industry dynamics.
